Written by

On Sunday, March 13, Friends Academy Middle School Robotics participated in the Southern New York State Robotics Championship at the Cradle of Aviation on Long Island, the first in-person state championship since 2020. The 7th grade team of Fiona Li, Lisali Peiris, and Aidan Lee won the Vex IQ Challenge Excellence Award. Along with this award, our students were three of 12 students (out of 56 total students in the running) invited to the Vex Robotics World Championship in Dallas, Texas in May.

“I am proud of this team for their ongoing perseverance,” said Clare Nesfield, Middle School Science Teacher and Robotics Coach. “They have managed to successfully balance their other commitments and not lose focus on everything needed to move forward. They worked together to improve their programming skills, keep up with the engineering notebook, practice driving, all while making upgrades to their robots to make it even faster and more efficient!”
