The strategy of chess – in game and sport

Written by

Last week, junior Logan Mott helped the Varsity Chess Team upset Jericho High School, a team with multiple chess masters ranked nationally in the top 25. To checkmate his opponent, he cornered the white king with his black queen, who was supported by his knight. The next day, he helped the Varsity Basketball Team clinch the conference championship with a win over East Rockaway High School. “Chess helps in everything,” Logan said. “Even for sports. It helps me think ahead.”

Cheer on Logan and our Boys Varsity Basketball team on Monday, February 21st at Hofstra University as they take on Locust Valley.
