Life at Friends Academy

At Friends Academy, community is more than a value—it’s the foundation of who we are. Whether in classrooms or across grades, on campus or off, in service or celebration, our students grow as individuals by being part of something bigger than themselves.

Opportunities to Lead

Learning at Friends doesn’t stop at the classroom door or within grade levels.

Through programs that pair older and younger students, division-wide events, and a long tradition of mixed-age community groups that combine students across divisions, older and younger students mentor, learn from, and inspire one another.

Community Service & Senior Projects

Service is a natural expression of our values and a central part of the student experience. It’s built in from day one, happens throughout the school year.

From Lower School food drives to helping out at Games for the Physically Challenged in Eighth Grade, to a junior/senior citizen “prom” and transformative Senior Projects, students practice empathy, responsibility, and connection with our local and global neighbors.

Quaker Life

At the heart of Friends Academy is our Quaker foundation—a living tradition that shapes how we learn, lead, and care for one another. Weekly Meeting for Worship offers time for quiet reflection and shared insight. In classrooms and community life, students are encouraged to listen with empathy, engage in respectful dialogue, and make thoughtful, values-based decisions.

Traditions & Annual Events

From Fall Fair to Peace Week, from Meeting for Worship to Spirit Week, our school calendar is full of traditions that build belonging and spark joy. These shared moments—some celebratory, some reflective—help define the rhythm of life at Friends.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Our commitment to equity is lived every day—in curriculum, in dialogue, and in action. We create spaces where all voices are valued, and where students develop the tools and awareness to lead with compassion and courage.
