Friends Academy Senior Photographs X Games

Written by

Senior Josh Sukoff has always been interested in photography – and this year he has been ever present while documenting the Class of 2022 and posting to special photo galleries and a dedicated Class of 2022 Instagram account. However, this January, Josh had the opportunity to put his passion to the professional test when he was hired by the Aspen Daily News to photograph the X Games in Aspen through an unusual connection. “Aspen Daily News had recognized the images I had posted on Instagram, reached out to me, and then offered me the chance to shoot for them at the X Games,” shared Josh. With some borrowed Friends Academy equipment, Josh took full advantage of the opportunity.

“My favorite part was being able to get so close to the athletes and to capture images in spots I’d never have been able to access. In addition, I met so many talented photographers and professionals who were super willing to offer advice and help me nail the perfect shot. It was particularly cool being in the media tent, with National Geographic to my right, and the Associated Press to my left – and I was the youngest person in there!”
