After 11 years, the Friends Academy Boys Varsity Basketball team is on their way to the Long Island Championship. The number #1 seeded Quakers matched up against The Malverne Mules, ranked at #2, and with both teams arriving at the championship game with 18-20 season records, it was anyone’s game. This is the first county championship title in over a decade for Boys Varsity Basketball, with a final score of 59-46. Top scorers of the game were Gabe Ferencz ‘23 with 16. CJ Williams ‘23 with 14, Malachi Polson ‘23 and Logan Mott ‘23 both with 13.

"This is bigger than just us on the team," remarked Williams, "it’s for the players … that came before us."

Come support the team as they take on Suffolk County Champions Southampton High School next Wednesday, March 9th at Centereach High School for the Long Island Class B Championship crown.

In addition to current playoff action, Friends will be playing in the Small School Championship game on Friday, March 4th at 7 pm at Wheatley High School against Carle Place HS.
