This week Friends Academy is practicing peace through its annual celebration of Peace Week, as students and adults engaged in activities that brings the school theme of "Belonging" to life. On Tuesday, Jan. 18, the opening day, more than 50 students wrote letters to Glen Cove Hospital frontline health workers. “Thank you so much for the hours you stay awake,” wrote Arianna Quan-Soon-Victor, a sophomore. “For the tears you shed, for the people you are close to.” The Peace Week Lunch & Learn event was organized by the Upper School student newspaper, Inkwell, and the Student Faculty Board.
"We want to reach beyond our own community when we think about the concept of belonging, said Louisa Garry, our Upper School English co-department head. “Letters to health care workers seemed very appropriate,” she said. “We value their service and efforts saving lives.”
