Eighth Grade Entrepreneurs Pitch a Local Leader

Last month, our eighth-grade entrepreneurship students pitched marketing plans to Alana Kessler, Director of Teen Services at the Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center in Greenvale. "The students that I've connected with are so empowered and excited about this class," she said. "This model clearly is a great way to get students experiential learning that they will remember.”

Our new Entrepreneurship Studies program was first piloted in our Upper School with great success. This year, the curriculum was woven into the Middle School as an Entrepreneurship Studies class for all Eighth grade students. Students learn the foundational concepts of entrepreneurialism – analytical thinking, innovation, and tackling real-world challenges. During the quarter-class, they engage in client interviews, design thinking, collaboration, and consultation with a number of community non-profit organizations, including the Grenville Baker Boys and Girls Club, the Glen Cove Police Department, and the Village of Hempstead.
